Professional Examination Service Partners on Examination Security Tech for Open Badges
NEW YORK – April 30, 2013 -- Professional Examination Service, the most experienced organization in professional licensure and certification services, today announced that it is incorporating Software Secure's remote proctoring technology into the ProExam Digital Micro-Credential solution.
The ProExam Digital Micro-Credential is the credentialing industry's first comprehensive system to create, deliver and display open digital "badges." Building on Mozilla's Open Badge Infrastructure, ProExam Digital Micro-Credentials add psychometric soundness, exacting assessment and one-click secure verification for employers.
Professional Examination Service's clients will be able to offer their own ProExam Digital Micro-Credentials to individuals for a targeted set of knowledge, accomplishments or skills (such as "time management"), which then can be shared and displayed as an open badge on social networking or job websites for use with employers. These very specific micro-credentials can be used in addition to traditional credentials, or as a precursor to them.
Software Secure's remote proctoring technology, Remote Proctor NOW, is a key stage in the ProExam micro-credentialing process for clients looking to go beyond an open-book exam. Digital micro-credential candidates, before and during the test, are prevented from running blacklisted applications. Enhanced web browser security blocks activities such as taking screen shots and using cut and paste, and the candidate computer's webcam records the exam session for review by certified proctors.
"Software Secure has put a lot of thought and effort into what's needed to protect exam integrity," said Robert S. Block, president and CEO, Professional Examination Service. "From ID authentication to proctor review, the remote proctoring solution, enables us to provide ProExam Digital Micro-Credential clients a cost-effective, robust technology that integrates seamlessly into the process of issuing a micro-credential."
Remote Proctor NOW, launched in October 2011, is part of the Remote Proctor line which earned Software Secure a 2011 CODiE Award from the Software and Information Industry Association, and a 2012-13 Reader's Choice Award from eSchool Media for higher education technology.
"Our remote proctoring technology has been proven for real-world use in higher education and certification markets, ranging from Michigan State University courses to APMG-International's professional certification testing," said Douglas M. Winneg, CEO and Founder of Software Secure. "Our priority at Software Secure is to support our customers and partners by delivering the most advanced and cost-effective remote proctoring technology in the industry, and we look forward to supporting ProExam Digital Micro-Credential clients."
