Speaking at CLEAR Annual Educational Conference 2013

As digital credentials increasingly become an option for certification and other programs, Professional Examination Service has issued a white paper, Digital "Badges" Emerge as Part of Credentialing's Future. This ten-page resource examines the history of digital badges used to represent accomplishments, skills or knowledge; the evolution of static, image-based badges into web-based Open Badges that embed critical information in the badge itself; and how digital credentials or more targeted micro-credentials can be displayed as Open Badges and leverage that industry-standard infrastructure, with both issues to consider and benefits for employers, candidates and credential sponsors. The new web-based software eases the process of creating and managing digital credentials and micro-credentials, and displays earned credentials as digital open badges that are compliant with the Mozilla Foundation's Open Badge technical standards. This makes it simple for credential issuers to ensure important information about the credential is embedded into its resulting digital badge, and lets credential earners store, share and combine credentials.
